OW Bunker, one of the world’s leading resellers and physical distributors of marine fuels, today announced the launch of a large-scale recruitment drive to attract new employees for its expanding North American operation.   Since the North America launch in 2012, OW Bunker now has both physical distribution and reselling operations in the region.  The company is actively looking for skilled employees from both inside and outside the bunkering industry to work out of its Stamford and Houston offices. “With bunkers accounting for the majority of a vessel’s operating costs, in conjunction with continued environmental and economic pressures, ship owners and operators need advanced fuel procurement solutions to meet the increasingly complex challenges that they now face,” says Adrian Tolson, Regional Manager, OW Bunker North America. “At OW Bunker, we believe that this requires our employees to think differently about how they solve our customers’ challenges in line with the changing dynamics of the shipping industry.  We are therefore looking for individuals not just with experience of bunkering, but from the entire shipping industry who can bring their specific experience, know-how and skill-sets to further help our customers maximize their competitive advantage.” As a means of fostering this, OW Bunker has launched the OW Bunker Academy.  This is a comprehensive training program that focuses on developing core competencies in line with the company’s values, building a highly capable and skilled team for the long-term, as well as integrating new employees from both inside and outside of the industry into the organization.
