On January 6, 2015, the Norwegian aluminium producer Hydro has signed the contract with logistics service provider Pacorini Metals. This contract contains the stevedoring, warehousing and freight forwarding of the Hydro products from the plants in Sunndal, Husnes and Karmoy destined for the European markets as well as a variety of northbound cargo coming from Europe and abroad to be exported to Norway. Hydro has changed their historic approach by selecting Pacorini Metals as their new service provider effective 1 January 2015. It is expected that these changes will bring structural and productivity advantages as a result of the collaboration and flexibility of all parties involved in this significant contract. Pacorini Metals will continue with and further develop their long-standing relationship with Broekman Distriport who will be handling the stevedoring activities in Rotterdam. Simon Yntema of Pacorini Metals said: “We are delighted to have signed this contract with one of the world’s leading aluminium producers. The contract strengthens our position in physical distribution via the port of Rotterdam and is a natural evolution of our growth into broader logistics services globally. Such a strong partnership is only possible by working closely with Hydro to deliver on their requirements and to develop a tailored solution with Broekman Distriport.” Rik Pek of Broekman Distriport said: “Our partnership with Pacorini Metals makes a real difference to the end user. Given our history we are able to develop concepts and ideas relatively quick with a very flexible and customer driven approach. At Distriport two deep-sea quays with 12,65 meters draft, an all-weather terminal and several warehouses are available, all on an almost thirty-hectare area offering sufficient space for covered and open-air storage.”.
