The global forwarding and logistics group Panalpina has appointed Sven Hoemmken (44) as Head of its global Supply Chain Management sector, based at Group headquarters in Basel. He is to begin work in his new position on December 1 and will report directly to the Chief Marketing & Sales and Supply Chain Management Officer, Sandro Knecht.

In Sven Hoemmken, Panalpina has recruited a specialist with many years' experience in international corporations and consultancy firms. He comes to Panalpina from DHL, who belong to Deutsche Post World Net, for whom he most recently worked as Senior Vice President in charge of Global Business Intelligence. Previously, he was Global Account Director at logistics firm Exel until its merger with DHL. Before taking up his position at Exel, Mr. Hoemmken was a senior employee at the consultancy firm Cap Gemini Ernst & Young in Frankfurt. From 1996 to 2001 he worked in South Korea in various positions, including that of head of a trading company. As an internationally recognized expert, Sven Hoemmken has an outstanding reputation in the area of Supply Chain Management.
