Lima, Pa. - Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, this week displayed its dedication to customer service by donating the delivery of over 1,000 children’s books to Arizona Helping Hands, a non-profit organization benefiting the state’s foster children.
After a moving introduction to Arizona Helping Hands, Sheri Barbera of Sweetles, a publisher of socially conscious books for children, and her husband, Sal, author of the popular children’s book, “Mary Elizabeth the Spotless Cow,” pledged to donate over 1,000 copies of Sal’s book to the organization’s Birthday Dreams program. In need of a freight forwarder to deliver the donation from Brainerd, MN to Scottsdale, AZ, Sheri and Sal turned to Pilot. Tom Drake, VP, domestic/Canadian operations and traffic at Pilot Freight Services, and his team handled a sensitive delivery, to one of Sheri’s most critical and high priority customers in the past. Pilot not only ensured the job was done right, but got it done ahead of schedule. It was this impressive and thoughtful service that led Sheri to contact Tom regarding the Arizona Helping Hands project. “Pilot cared for my customer with the high level of priority as if they were their own, and that meant everything to us!” said Sheri. “One of the values we always try to teach children through our books is the power of ‘thank you,’ and that’s what we can’t say enough of to Pilot.” “It’s heartbreaking to know there are more than 17,000 children in foster care just in one state,” said Tom. “Sheri and her husband are the real heroes in this story through their generous donation. Pilot is pleased to have played a role in getting these books to the children and support a momentous cause.” The books were delivered to Arizona Helping Hands headquarters located at 7850 E. Gelding Drive #500 Scottsdale, AZ on Tuesday, July 28th, where they were presented to Dan Shufelt, president and CEO of the organization, by Sheri and Sal.
