Norwell, Massachusetts - Russ Aborn, Partner & Founder of PMC Logistics, announced today that the company has changed its name to Aborn & Co. With the new name comes a new logo which underscores the firm’s core competency – expertise in the freight pricing and service market.  The company has already gone through a couple name changes in their 28 years of business. Russ recalled “In 1988, I started a business called Plymouth Management Company with the goal of helping companies ship freight easier for a fair price. A lot has happened since 1988 in the freight/ traffic/logistics/supply chain industry. In 1992, we became PMC Logistics as “logistics” came to best describe the evolving, professional approach and management practices that we implemented.” Russ goes on to explain the reason for the most recent name change, “Now, when people see "logistics" they think "freight broker," and we are not freight brokers. We work with brokers every day, and they supply a valuable service. But a freight broker sees what you spend on freight as revenue, while we see it as cost to our clients. This is the fundamental difference. We believe the name Aborn & Co. clearly communicates our role in the market as consultants.” As of January 1, 2016 PMC Logistics will be known as Aborn & Co. The name change, new colors, and updated logo reflect the Aborn family’s 300-year tradition in the freight movement industry.  The Aborn family has been involved in transporting of freight since 1720 when Samuel Aborn started building cargo ships in Wickford, RI.  His sons, Joseph and Daniel were ship’s captains as was Daniel's son, Peleg Aborn.   Mr. Aborn explains the genesis of the new logo: “The clipper ship in our new logo is a tie in to my family’s history while the bold font we chose reflects our focus on our customers and the future. The name is different but the people remain the same.  Our ownership and our values have not changed, just our name.” For more information visit http://www.Abornandco.com
