Princeton, NJ - TRAC Intermodal has been informed that Red Hook Container Terminal - Port Newark will soon discontinue storing chassis on its terminal as part of efforts to increase container volume capacity at its facility.
To minimize the impact of this change on customers picking up freight at Red Hook Container Terminal - Port Newark and to support chassis availability, TRAC Intermodal will make bare chassis available for pick-up at nearby Metro Pool facilities:
- C&C Maintenance Marsh St.
- Elizabeth Chassis Depot
To avoid any interruption to your operations, please be advised of the following details and timeline related to this upcoming change:
- Metro Pool chassis returns will no longer be accepted at Red Hook Container Terminal - Port Newark beginning Monday, October 23, 2017. Chassis entering the facility as of this date must be reused and returned to a Metro Pool start/stop location.
- Metro Pool chassis may continue to be picked up from Red Hook Container Terminal - Port Newark through Friday, October 27, 2017.
Beginning Monday, October 30, 2017, Red Hook Container Terminal - Port Newark will no longer be a start/stop location within the TRAC Metro Pool. TRAC Metro Pool customers may secure bare chassis for freight at Red Hook Container Terminal - Port Newark from our C&C Maintenance Marsh St. and Elizabeth Chassis Depot facilities. At C&C Maintenance Marsh St., customers will be required to provide the ocean carrier’s Booking information or a TRAC Intermodal release number in order to secure a bare chassis. No release number will be required to secure a bare chassis at the Elizabeth Chassis Depot.
