The City of Long Beach Harbor Department is moving to a new address. The Department that oversees the Port of Long Beach will soon be based at Interim Administrative Offices at 4801 Airport Plaza Drive near the Long Beach Airport. The Department’s old Administration Building, which was opened in 1960, was found to be seismically unsafe and inadequate for the Department’s current needs. The move to Airport Plaza, next to the Marriott Hotel, started on Valentine’s Day and will be occurring in stages over four weekends through March. The Harbor Department will eventually return to a permanent headquarters in the downtown area. Beginning March 10, mail should be sent to the Interim Administrative Offices at this address: 4801 Airport Plaza Drive Long Beach, CA 90815 The Port of Long Beach is one of the world’s premier seaports, a leading gateway for trans-Pacific trade and a trailblazer in innovative goods movement, safety and environmental stewardship. The Port handles trade valued at $155 billion annually, supporting 300,000 jobs in Southern California. The Port is moving forward with $4 billion in capital projects this decade including terminal, railroad, roadway and bridge improvements to support trade and jobs growth.
