In March, Port of Longview Chief Executive Officer Geir-Eilif Kalhagen was elected as Vice President of the America’s region of the International Association of Ports and Harbors. “I am humbled by this opportunity and am looking forward to sharing—with ports around the world—the story of the Port of Longview and its community.” Kalhagen continued, “This is foremost a credit to the staff and management team at the Port of Longview, as I would not be able to take on the responsibility of representing our Port on the global stage without their tireless commitment.” The appointment will give the Port of Longview a unique opportunity to showcase its premiere west coast cargo handling capabilities to a multi-national audience; underscoring the viability of the Port as a major player in the international maritime arena.     Kalhagen will travel to Hamburg, Germany in June, where he will be officially installed at the 29th IAPH World Ports Conference, along with newly-elected Vice Presidents from the Asia/Oceania and Africa/Europe regions.
