Port of Portland Commission Selects New Executive Director

Port of Portland Commission today selected Curtis Robinhold as the new executive director of the Port of Portland.
Robinhold is currently deputy executive director for the Port of Portland. The selection is subject to successful negotiation of an employment package. Current Executive Director Bill Wyatt will retire from the Port on June 30, 2017.
The Port Commission’s process for selecting the new Executive Director included initial interviews by a Port Commission advisory group, which included representatives from labor and the environmental and business communities. The group recommended three final candidates to the Commission. On May 10, the Commission interviewed the three final candidates before the final selection today.
“The Port Commission appreciated the comments and feedback from more than 160 individuals and community organizations, which helped shape our questions and discussions with candidates,” Jim Carter, Commission president said. “The feedback gave us strong community perspective on the ways that the Port of Portland can best fulfill its mission in the future and we strongly believe that Curtis is best positioned to lead that undertaking.”
“Our goal was to find an experienced, well-rounded candidate to lead the Port into the future,” Carter added. “We were looking for someone with demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement, consensus building, business acumen and team development and believe Curtis met all our goals for the search and the new executive director.”
