Port Corpus Christi received the visit of five Tianjin Port (Group) CO., LTD executives. The delegation included executives in charge of Construction, Logistics and Operations of the Port and it was led by Mr. Yan Hu Zhao, Vice President of Tianjin Port Group LLC.

As part of the agenda, Port Corpus Christi Commissioners hosted a welcome dinner in their honor, City of Corpus Christi Mayor and other dignitaries were present. In addition, the Tianjin Port executives were provided with full details on the present Port Corpus Christi infrastructure as well as a visit to the La Quinta Multipurpose Terminal project which could become a gateway for the recently approved Tianjin Pipe Manufacturing plant. (TPCO) “It is an honor for our Port to host the Port of Tianjin delegation. We had the opportunity to educate the group about our future projects specially the Container/Multipurpose facility La Quinta Trade Gateway as it is going to be built right next to the site were the proposed Tianjin Pipe Manufacturing Plant is going to be built.” said, Mike Carrell, Chairman Port Corpus Christi.

TPCO America Corporation air permit was approved by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality for the construction and operation of the TPCO America Texas Mill, a minimil facility that will manufacture oil and gas pipe.  The Texas Mill is expected to produce 600,000 metric tons of pipes per year. The estimated capital cost for this facility is $1 billion. Construction of the facility will begin in 2010 with operation beginning in 2012.
