New mobile application provides affordable ELD solution PHOENIX, November 27, 2017 — HELP Inc. announces an easy-to-use, economical way to comply with the upcoming federally mandated electronic logging device (ELD) requirement for recording truck driver work time. The PrePass ELD application from HELP Inc. meets all requirements of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The cost of the PrePass ELD app is $14.99 per month per license and is reduced to $12.99 per month when bundled with the PrePass weigh station bypass service. The PrePass ELD records driver hours-of-service, based only upon the data required by law. It operates as a bring-your-own device (BYOD) app, available now for Android devices and followed soon for iOS formats. The app takes seconds to install and carriers can sign up now. Users first establish a Fleet Manager account and order OBD (on-board diagnostics) connector devices. After plugging the OBD device into the truck’s diagnostic port, drivers can download the app to any tablet or smartphone to begin recording truck movement and driver hours.
The PrePass ELD also offers Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), central web-based reporting and simple OBD wireless connection via Bluetooth. “Unlike many other providers entering the ELD market, fleets and drivers using the PrePass ELD can be assured they are getting a high-quality service from a trusted name that’s been in trucking technology for almost 25 years,” said HELP President & CEO Karen Rasmussen. HELP Inc., the non-profit provider of PrePass, the nation’s most complete truck weigh station bypass system, developed PrePass ELD to address requests from owner-operators and fleets for a simple and low-cost way to comply with the ELD requirement taking effect on December 18, 2017. This new service was introduced during the American Trucking Associations’ Management Conference & Exposition in October 2017. While customers do not have to subscribe to other PrePass services to use the ELD, they will, however, benefit from the same award-winning customer service PrePass customers have come to expect, Rasmussen added.  As an organization whose primary mission is safety, HELP Inc. reminds carriers and drivers that federal law requires that all mobile devices being used in a moving vehicle must be mounted or docked to prevent hand-held use and potential driving distractions.
