Construction of Port Metro Vancouver's Deltaport Third Berth (DP3) is progressing and on schedule for completion in fall 2009 at Roberts Bank in Delta, British Columbia.

The second containment dike has been completed. The area behind it has been filled and preloading is in progress. Preloading is complete for the stage 1 area in the southwest portion of the expansion footprint. Caisson mattress material placement and densification in the north end of the caisson trench have been completed. Six of the ten caissons have been placed in their final locations and filling procedures have commenced. The new tug basin has been completed and Seaspan's vessels have been relocated to it.

Work on habitat compensation projects continues. In total, CAD$25 million will be spent on environmental initiatives that focus on local marine mammals and wildlife.

DP3 will increase capacity at Deltaport by approximately 400,000 teus by adding a third berth and 20 hectares of container storage facilities to the existing two-berth container terminal. The Project is part of the Port's overall strategy to expand container capacity at Port Metro Vancouver.
