The Swiss Air Transport Foundation has proposed Monika Ribar (52), CEO of Panalpina World Transport, for appointment to the Board of Directors of Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. Subject to the approval of the company's 2012 Annual General Meeting on 28 June, Ms. Ribar will succeed long-serving Board member Walter Bosch.

Monika Ribar, CEO of Panalpina World Transport, will be proposed for appointment to the Swiss International Air Lines Ltd. Board of Directors at the company's 2012 Annual General Meeting on 28 June. Ms. Ribar's appointment has been recommended by the Swiss Air Transport Foundation, and the proposal is fully supported by both SWISS and Lufthansa. 
 
If appointed, Monika Ribar will succeed Walter Bosch, who is relinquishing his seat on the SWISS Board of Directors for age reasons after almost ten years in office. 'Walter Bosch has been helping to steer our company right from its birth,' says SWISS Chairman of the Board of Directors Bruno Gehrig. 'We offer him our warmest thanks for all his years of dedicated work and service, and for his numerous achievements on SWISS's behalf

She has been with the Panalpina global transport company for over 20 years now, during which she has held a number of top executive positions including Chief Information Officer and Chief Financial Officer. She has been company CEO since 2006. Ms. Ribar also sits on the Logitech and SIKA boards of directors.

Moritz Leuenberger, the Chairman of the Swiss Air Transport Foundation, is convinced that Monika Ribar will be an excellent addition to the SWISS Board of Directors. 'Our Foundation considered a number of candidates here,' he explains. 'And our final choice was clearly for Monika Ribar, with her proven credentials and her strong track record in the logistics and transport fields.' SWISS Board Chairman Bruno Gehrig agrees: 'Monika Ribar's expertise and her many years of management experience will be of immense benefit to our company.'
