The specialist skills of Volga-Dnepr Airlines' Engineering and Logistics Center (ELC) were required to move large mining vehicles to Ulan Bator, the capital and largest city in Mongolia and the country's major manufacturing centre.

The AN-124 freighter flight from Prestwick in Scotland was performed on behalf of Monnis International, which chose Volga-Dnepr because of its ability to provide a full solution for its transportation requirements.

Volga-Dnepr's ELC team provided technical expertise for the movement, including recommendations to the manufacturer in order to avoid any possible problems during the transportation. The shipment consisted of two mining vehicles on caterpillar belts that had been manufactured in County Tyrone in Northern Ireland by Striker Crushing & Screening Company. Each vehicle weighed 37 tonnes and measured 18.8m x 3m x 34m

Having considered several airport options, Volga-Dnepr recommended the optimum solution was to truck the cargo from County Tyrone to Prestwick and then transport it onboard the AN-124 to Kazakstan. Volga-Dnepr's ELC arranged trailers to truck the cargo to Scotland, ferry transport, cargo handling and all required aviation security.

The mining vehicles were safely loaded onto the aircraft and flown to Ulan Bator according to the agreed schedule.
