Amsterdam Airport Schiphol has been ranked top major European airport (over 1 million tonnes per annum) in the tenth Air Cargo Excellence Survey. The airport section of the Air Cargo Excellence Awards is based on the voting of airlines on a number of specific criteria. Schiphol’s 2014 winning score of 113 marked a further significant improvement in its recent trend; in 2012 it scored 103 points, and in 2013 it achieved 106 points. Schiphol also attained the highest rating in each of the categories – customer service, value, facilities and information technology – which combine to decide the overall results. The Award winners were announced at a ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, where senior representatives of the global air cargo community were gathered for this year’s IATA World Cargo Symposium. Says Schiphol Cargo Senior VP Enno Osinga: “We are delighted to have moved into top position this year, and to have shown a marked improvement in all categories. Once again, we thank all those who have ranked Schiphol so highly. “Our continuing work to drive streamlining of processes at Schiphol, in conjunction with our community and our authorities, has clearly played a part in these results, as it has in the steady growth of traffic through our airport. “We hope that our many initiatives, and the dividends they achieve, will be studied and adopted around the world. Airfreight is only as strong as its weakest link, so we all need to work together and raise standards across the industry.”
