With SeaLand once your container is delivered to your destination shippers can choose haulage option under a Merchant Haulage agreement. Under a Merchant Haulage agreement for imports to Mexico, SeaLand protects the liability and return of SeaLand containers with the enforcement of the current Merchant Haulage Deposit for transportation that has been arranged by the Consignee. This deposit will be charged in the amount of $1000 USD per container, but not exceeding $5000 USD per Bill of Lading (BL) irrespective of the number of containers under this BL. The deposit is reimbursable as long as the following requirements are met: Container must be returned in good condition without any demurrage charges due. Bill of Lading must be fully paid without any outstanding debts. Once the requirements are met, you may request your r eimbursement to the following email address: [email protected] Please note that this deposit is not applicable for shipments under a Carrier Haulage agreement, in other words, those that have been contracted by the Carrier or store door delivery. Also, this deposit does not apply for clients who possess a “Letter of Guarantee” (Carta de Garantía in Spanish) which is provided to clients who ship more than 60 FFE’s annually to Mexico as their destination under a SeaLand service, or who already possess this letter with Maersk Line.
