A pair of Share the Road professional drivers will be joining industry executives from the Kansas Motor Carriers Association at the state capitol in Topeka to educate lawmakers on the importance of trucking and highway safety. “Educating people, not just lawmakers, but fellow drivers, is an important part of what it means to be a Share the Road driver,” said Don Logan, a professional driver with FedEx Freight. “Events like this one are important to not just making our roads better and safer, but for improving the image of our industry.” “This is a responsibility we take very seriously,” said Share the Road Professional Steve Fields, a driver with YRC Freight. “Educating the public is one of the most rewarding parts about being a Share the Road driver.” “It is important for lawmakers to hear from more than just state association executives and members, but from the drivers who are more impacted by their decisions,” said KMCA Executive Director Tom Whitaker, “and that’s why we’re always thankful when professional drivers like these can join us to discuss important issues affecting our industry.” The Share the Road drivers will arrive at the state capitol at 7am CST and remain on the grounds until approximately 3:30pm. Media interested in viewing the truck or talking to the drivers should contact Becky Crawford with the KMCA at 785-267-1641.
