Washington, DC - Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) today announced that Matt Sturges has been appointed to Staff Director of the Committee. “Since I became Chairman, Matt’s knowledge and insight about infrastructure issues has been an invaluable resources to me and the Committee.  Not only that, he has a keen sense of the legislative process and simply knows how to get things done.  His leadership and expertise will be instrumental to the Committee’s agenda over the next two years as we work to modernize America’s infrastructure for the 21st century.” Sturges joined the Committee staff at the beginning of Shuster’s chairmanship in January 2013.  He served as the Committee’s Deputy Staff Director since September 2014.  Prior to that, he served as the Aviation Subcommittee Staff Director, and as the Committee’s Director of Member Services.  Before joining the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, Sturges worked for U.S. Rep. Patrick Meehan of Pennsylvania as Legislative Director, for the House Republican Conference under Chairman Deborah Pryce of Ohio, and for the Republican National Committee as Deputy Director of Government Affairs and chief liaison to the House of Representatives.
