Washington, DC - Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) today released highlights of the Committee’s legislative record and accomplishments of the 114th Congress. “In this Congress, our committee has worked to strengthen America’s infrastructure and pass commonsense reforms that cut red tape, reduce regulatory burdens, increase transparency, and encourage fiscal responsibility in infrastructure programs,” Shuster said.  “The Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has demonstrated the ability to work together to produce legislation that is fundamental to a safe, efficient infrastructure network that promotes America’s competitiveness. “Measures to improve our roads, bridges, rail system, maritime transportation, and pipeline safety have worked their way through the Committee, and we have held dozens of oversight hearings and roundtables, both in Washington and in communities across the country,” Shuster added.  “Our work isn’t done, and we continue our efforts to finish the Water Resources Development Act.  I am proud of our committee’s track record, and I am confident that we will be able to continue addressing the Nation’s infrastructure needs in the next Congress.” Among the bills that have passed through the Committee and have been signed into law since January 2014 are the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, the Passenger Rail Reform and Investment Act (which was included as part of the FAST Act), the Protecting our Infrastructure of Pipelines and Enhancing Safety (PIPES) Act, the Coast Guard Authorization Act, the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System Modernization Act, and the Surface Transportation Board Reauthorization Act.
