On August 5th, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards revealed two additional appointments to the Port of South Louisiana Board of Commissioners. During last night’s regular commission meeting, Judy Songy of LaPlace, Louisiana and Whitney Hickerson of Vacherie, Louisiana were sworn-in to their new positions.

Judy B. Songy, a retired Century 21 owner/broker, who still pursues real estate sales, property management, and real estate consulting part-time, will serve as a representative of St. John the Baptist Parish. As required by statute, Ms. Songy was nominated by a legislator representing said parish.

Whitney Hickerson, retired in 2004 from DuPont Company where he worked as a cost accountant, is currently a residential home builder. He was nominated by a legislator from St. James Parish (as required by statute) and will represent aforementioned parish. The board is now comprised of nine members, with three commissioners residing in each parish within the Port’s jurisdiction: D. Paul Robichaux, P. Joey Murray III, and Kelly Buckwalter of St. Charles Parish; Joseph M. Scontrino III, Patrick C. Sellars, and Judy B. Songy of St. John the Baptist Parish; and Robert “Poncho” Roussel, Stanley Bazile, and Whitney Hickerson of St. James Parish.
