South American Airways has appointed four members of independent GSSA group EGSAC as its representatives for Scandinavia and Finland.

South American Airways is a 'virtual' airline, providing bellyhold and freighter capacity to 76 destinations in central and South America and the Caribbean from its main hub in Miami. The airline connects to Miami using various interline partners, with Dusseldorf and Amsterdam as its northern European gateways.

In Denmark, EGSAC member Cargo Care International will handle marketing of the airline's capacity; in Sweden, Norway and Finland, the airline will be represented by Airline Services GSA, whose three subsidiary companies are also the local EGSAC members. All four GSSAs will connect to South American Airways' European gateways using their own regular road feeder services.

The appointments mark the first formal representation of the airline in the Nordic region. Says Airline Services GSA Chairman Jari Aaltonen: 'This a well-established and proven carrier, offering an economical service option for this important region. We all look forward to providing our customers with this valuable additional market coverage, which we believe has exciting potential.'

Cargo Care International was launched in 2007, and represents eight airlines. Airline Services GSA was founded in Finland in 1997 and represents seven airlines across its three regional subsidiaries. The EGSAC network of independently-owned GSSAs now comprises 130+ bases in 30+ countries.
