Rod Strata, a veteran of more than 30 years in the transportation, supply chain and enterprise software industries, has joined TMW Systems as executive vice president of operations. TMW Systems is a premier transportation solutions provider to commercial and private fleets, brokerage and third-party logistics organizations. Strata, who most recently was chief operating officer for the North American retail business of enterprise software provider SAP, will oversee development, professional service and support for two of TMW’s key product lines. He reports to TMW President David Wangler. “Rod is a phenomenal fit for our organization, with uncommonly broad experience in enterprise software for the transportation and logistics markets in North America, Asia and worldwide,” Wangler said. “Most notably, he began his career at the fleet level and has a deep understanding and appreciation of our mission to help customers achieve their operational objectives.” Strata served in a variety of strategic roles over his nine-year tenure at SAP and played a key part in the growth of the company’s global transportation and logistics business. Prior to SAP, he was transportation group president at RedPrairie and, earlier, vice president of transportation and logistics for i2 Technologies. He began his career with Roadway Express and later worked for McLean Trucking and Yellow Freight System. Strata is currently serving as a member of the Director’s Circle with the Transportation Intermediaries Association Board of Directors. He has been a featured speaker at a variety of industry events, including the Traffic World Executive Round Table, Supply Chain World and Bear Stearns Transportation Conference. He also co-authored a past 3PL study with Georgia Institute of Technology’s Supply Chain and Logistics Institute.
