The project submitted by SPOTworx consisted of a case study demonstrating the implementation of SPOT Purchase Order Management. This is a cloud-based application within the SPOT Platform which was created by SPOTworx in cooperation with an automotive customer to increase transparency in the client’s procurement processes. Previously, the automotive manufacturer had relied on an ERP system for tracking the placement of their orders with suppliers as well as the delivery of the goods to the automotive producer. There was no system in place to track the steps in between, such as completion of goods, placement of a transport order, pick-up at the supplier’s premises and main run by seafreight. This lack of transparency caused a range of challenges: Delays and discrepancies were often noticed too late, resulting in high costs for urgent airfreight deliveries. The lack of transparency also led to case-by-case decisions instead of long-term solutions, which caused an unnecessarily high administrative effort.

By implementing the SPOT Purchase Order Management application, SPOTworx created transparency in the automotive producer’s procurement process, increased delivery reliability and enabled a more efficient use of resources. The full-range tracking possibilities allowed for more standardized processes and a lower number of “emergency transports” by airfreight. In addition, the client can access production and transport statistics to keep track of overall performance and derive measures for continuous improvement. Due to this project’s innovative nature, SPOTworx was able to carry the lessons learned over into other projects for the continued benefit of its clients.

Christian Binder, Director of SPOTworx: “We are delighted to receive this acknowledgement of our synergic and prolific cooperation with our clients around the world. This award confirms our expertise in the fields of logistics, procurement and digitalization and encourages us to keep working on the continuous improvement of our services and solutions.”

The SPOT Visibility & Collaboration Platform was launched in 2000 and has received numerous upgrades and expansions since then. The most recent addition is the Parcel Module which allows users to connect to all CEP (Courier, Express, Parcel) providers on one platform to simplify price comparison, order placement, shipment tracking, dispatch and label printing. The SPOT Platform currently has 20,000 active users around the globe.
