Tanimura & Antle utilizes CHEP pallet storage, IFCO RPC inventory management solutions to increase efficiency, improve sustainability and optimize shipping and handling during peak harvest seasons. Collaboration has eliminated more than 5 million pounds of carbon emissions, saved nearly 92 million gallons of water, eliminated over 4 million pounds of food waste, eliminated the solid waste produced by more than 3,000 homes annually and saved enough energy to power over 32,000 homes for one year.  New Orleans, Louisiana – October 20, 2017 – Unique supply chain solutions from CHEP and IFCO are helping Tanimura & Antle become more efficient, eliminate supply chain disruptions and meet its sustainability commitments. That success story and other innovative sustainability and fresh solutions are highlighted at the PMA Fresh Summit 2017. CHEP and IFCO developed unique storage and inventory management solutions for Tanimura & Antle, an employee-owned fresh produce farm in Salinas, California. CHEP stores hundreds of thousands of pallets at Tanimura & Antle locations in Yuma, Arizona, and Spreckels, California, prior to peak harvest seasons. This pallet storage solution increases efficiency and helps Tanimura & Antle serve its customers more effectively during peak harvest seasons. It also generates transportation efficiencies that reduce carbon emissions and environmental impact. “We have built a strong reputation for providing our customers with premium fresh produce every single day,” said Eric Wexler, Vice President, Supply Chain Management, Tanimura & Antle. “Working with CHEP and IFCO, we have peace of mind knowing that pallets and RPCs are on-hand and readily available to meet customer demands, efficiently and sustainably.”  IFCO provides Tanimura & Antle with Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs) for packaging, transporting, storing and displaying its fresh produce. In addition, IFCO uses crop forecasting, acreage yield data and harvest transition plans to provide Tanimura & Antle with RPC Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) services that ensure IFCO RPCs are on-hand and readily available throughout the year. Since 2000, Tanimura & Antle’s partnership with CHEP and IFCO has generated impressive sustainability savings. They have eliminated more than 5 million pounds of carbon emissions – the equivalent of removing over 5.3 million cars from the roads. They also saved nearly 92 million gallons of water, eliminated over 4 million pounds of food waste, eliminated the amount of waste produced by more than 3,000 homes annually and saved enough energy to power over 32,000 homes for one year. “We are committed to doing business in a responsible way that protects and preserves our natural resources. CHEP and IFCO are innovative and collaborative partners that help us deliver on our sustainability commitments,” said Mr. Wexler. CHEP has also helped companies like Wholesum Harvest and Metro Inc. develop innovative supply chain solutions that increased efficiency, reduced costs and provided sustainability dividends. “CHEP and IFCO constantly strive to develop new and innovative strategies that help growers and retailers successfully navigate the demands of the modern fresh produce supply chain,” said Jason Adlam, Vice President of New Business Development, CHEP USA. “Our pallet storage, sustainability and international flow solutions are examples of the value we deliver for our customers.” CHEP and IFCO are committed to achieving a Circular Economy that generates zero emissions and zero waste.
