Texas success leads to network expansion for IAS

IAS Logistics - one of the USA's leading specialist airfreight truckers -has announced plans to expand its highly-successful Texas Trucking Operation. Initially, this will include Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami.

Originally founded in 2008, IAS Logistics is already carrying 750,000 lbs (340,000 kgs) of airfreight every day on its scheduled FTL (full truck load) and LTL (less than truck load) services throughout its Texas network. This operates from the state's major airports ' Austin, Brownsville, Dallas Fort Worth, El Paso, Harlingen, Houston, Laredo, McAllen and San Antonio ' to all other airports and key destinations.

Now, the company plans to replicate its successful Texas hub-and-spoke operation to serve markets around other US major airports. Says Mark Elsea, COO: 'The IAS Logistics network has worked very well in Texas over the past five years. We now feel confident in taking this concept to other markets.

'One of the winning features of the Texas services has been our unique relationship with ground handlers located at all airports, giving us direct airside access. This enables us to provide secure, direct-onto-ramp services ' including container build-up and breakdown - that offer total security for valuable and urgent freight.'

Other features of the Texas operation that will be copied include integrated bonded trucking and storage, and a diversified fleet to cater for shipper-built containers, intermodal freight and heavy- and outsize cargo. Truck charter for ad hoc and large shipments will also be provided.

Continues Elsea: 'Direct ramp access enables us to offer the fastest and most efficient ground-air or air-ground transit times in the business. Working closely with airport ground handlers has been a game-changer; we will build on this concept at other locations too.'

He concludes: 'The resulting new levels of speed and security restore competitiveness to airfreight as a transport mode. We look forward to bringing this level of service to many new destinations.'
