Three terminals at the Port of Long Beach have temporarily discontinued operations for the first shift on Tuesday, Sept. 23, due to smoke from the fire at the neighboring Port of Los Angeles. Firefighters continue to work on the blaze at L.A.’s Pasha facility that started on Monday night. However, smoke from that fire has led terminals closest to the Port of Los Angeles, at Long Beach’s Pier T, Pier A and Pier F to close for the day shift Tuesday. The affected terminals will reassess the situation later today, and consider reopening for the night shift, which would begin at 6 p.m The City of Long Beach Harbor Department is in constant communication with its terminal operators, railroads, and trucking dispatchers as it monitors the situation affecting the Port of Long Beach. Through a mutual aid agreement, Long Beach Fire Department fireboats based in the Port of Long Beach have been assisting the Port of Los Angeles with fire suppression at Pasha.
