Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) is honored to have the opportunity to once again sponsor the 2015 Paralyzed Veterans Golf Open (PVGO) being held Monday, May 18. The tournament’s proceeds help veterans and military caregivers overcome barriers to employment through the Paralyzed Veterans of America’s Operations PAVE (Paving Access for Veterans Employment). TIA staff and member companies are joined today by business leaders, military officials, and veterans for this very worthy event. “TIA is privileged to continue our commitment to honoring and supporting veterans, and the proven power of Operation PAVE to make a difference in a growing number of veterans' lives. TIA’s Veterans Initiative exceeded its goal for 2014. TIA worked with our members to successfully hire 114 veterans in 2014,” stated TIA President and CEO Robert Voltmann.
Operation PAVE differs from traditional job-assistance programs aimed at veterans and family members, by offering highly personal individualized counseling, and support. The program is on track to meet its goal of placing at least one veteran, caregiver, or family member per day in a job during 2015. The PVGO has raised $2.6 million since its inception in 2008. The tournament dedicates all funds to Operation PAVE and the program’s employment services, which are provided free to all veterans and their family members. “We thank the Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) for their support at this important event,” said Al Kovach, national president of Paralyzed Veterans of America. “We need leaders like TIA in the business community to continue to step up and help us achieve our ambitious veterans’ employment efforts, and help honor those who have served America.” Operation PAVE provides free one-on-one career assistance, benefits counseling, and support to all veterans, their families, and their caregivers. PAVE specializes in assisting disabled veterans seeking to re-enter the workforce. PAVE counselors also work with local and national employers committed to hiring veterans by identifying qualified employment candidates. Since 2007, more than 2,500 veterans have received services through the PAVE program. PAVE’s current case load of nearly 700 clients are served by master’s level certified rehabilitation counselors and trained employment analysts located across the country.
