Cincinnati, OH – Total Quality Logistics donated $1,000 this month to Wreaths Across America as part of its Moves That Matter program. Just in time for Christmas, Wreaths Across America lives its name and mission – “Remember, Honor, Teach” -- by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery and veteran grave sites around the country and beyond. National Wreaths Across America Day was December 12 and the wreaths remain in place through the holidays, until January 23. Founded in 1992 in Maine, WAA grew from one man’s tribute into a national cause that “spreads the message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms.” WAA receives no government funding and relies on individual wreath sponsors, corporate donors and volunteers in the trucking industry to fund its efforts. “Wreaths Across America does inspiring work to remember and honor the men and women who paid the ultimate price for our country,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL president. “This donation is a small thank you to them. “It’s also a way to thank and encourage people working in the transportation industry. We are happy to support organizations served by trucking.” Moves That Matter began in 2014 with a gift to the Where Angels Play Foundation. TQL learned it was entrusted to arrange the shipments of equipment to build the last six of 26 Connecticut playgrounds constructed in memory of each victim of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. The Moves that Matter mission is to “benefit charities and charitable entities arising from the experiences of TQL’s employees, customers and carriers. Every day, we work together to move freight throughout North America. While some loads contain ordinary shipments, others contain something extraordinary. They contain hope and healing. They rouse us to take immense pride in our daily job.” Moves That Matter is administered by TQL Cares, the company’s employee-driven community service initiative.
