FORT LAUDERDALE – Total Quality Logistics announced its February Moves That Matter recipient. TQL will make a $1,000 gift to the Humane Society of Broward County to assist with its annual Walk for the Animals event. Moves That Matter benefits non-profit organizations who use the truckload transportation industry to move items that will help those suffering or in need. TQL employees, customers or carriers can nominate non-profit organizations with whom they have worked to help move an important load of freight. TQL and the Humane Society of Broward County first connected last year when the company helped transport items for the 2015 Walk for the Animals fundraiser, a mile-long stroll for people and pets along the New River and through downtown Fort Lauderdale. The 2016 event is scheduled for March 5.  “We are excited Total Quality Logistics is joining us once again for the 2016 Walk for the Animals,” said Leana Suarez, Walk for the Animals coordinator. “The Moves That Matter program not only helps us cut our cost for transportation, but their employees help ensure the move is seamless.” “We are proud to work with the Humane Society of Broward County again this year,” said Kerry Byrne, TQL president. “The Walk for the Animals is a huge event in the Fort Lauderdale community and we’re happy to help the Humane Society of Broward County connect people and pets.”  Moves That Matter began in 2014 with a gift to the Where Angels Play Foundation. TQL learned it was entrusted to move the equipment to build the last six of 26 Connecticut playgrounds constructed in memory of each victim of the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting. The Moves that Matter mission is to “benefit charities and charitable entities arising from the experiences of TQL’s employees, customers and carriers. Every day, we work together to move freight throughout North America. While some loads contain ordinary shipments, others contain something extraordinary. They contain hope and healing. They rouse us to take immense pride in our daily job.” Moves That Matter is administered by TQL Cares, the company’s employee-driven community service initiative.
