• ArcBest household moving service completes over 1 million moves since October 1997
  • Company releases documentary-style video showcasing the human side of moving

FORT SMITH, Arkansas - U-Pack, a service of ArcBest (Nasdaq: ARCB), is proud to celebrate its 20th anniversary this month.

Since its first customer moved in October 1997, U-Pack, a nationwide relocation service that specializes in long-distance moving, has handled more than 1 million household moves.

“The success of U-Pack can be attributed to the talented employees we have across our organization,” said Judy R. McReynolds, ArcBest chairman, president and CEO. “I’m very proud to celebrate 20 years of being a part of helping families make a new start.”

U-Pack is celebrating this milestone with a documentary-style video that showcases the human side of moving and gives viewers a glimpse into the mixed emotions people feel when they go through a significant life change.

Over the summer, the U-Pack team followed four customers on the journey to their new homes and documented their experience. Once each move was complete, the customers were asked to stop by a local studio to talk about their U-Pack move. Though the customers thought they were just going to answer a few questions, U-Pack had something else in mind — a $20,000 surprise to help each of them get started on their next chapter in life. “There are so many reasons why people make a big move, and over the years we learned that each customer has a truly unique story,” said Andrew Schweizer, ArcBest vice president – Moving Services and Yield Strategy. “We wanted to tell a few of those stories and also say ‘thank you’ for sharing a part of their lives with us.”

U-Pack began in 1997 as a way to provide consumers with a convenient, affordable option for moving out of state or across the country. Customers pack and load their belongings into a moving trailer or

container, and U-Pack handles the transportation to their new home.
