The U.K. government said it will make a decision on London airport expansion next week as it’s “in the national interest” not to delay it further, after discussions in Prime Minister Theresa May’s cabinet on Tuesday that lasted over an hour. The decision on the government’s preferred option will be taken by the cabinet’s Economy and Industrial Strategy Sub-Committee with responsibility for airports, May’s spokeswoman, Helen Bower, told reporters in London. May will also allow ministers to make known their objections to the decision. The prime minister “made clear this was an important infrastructure decision for the country which has been delayed for too long,” Bower said. Allowing ministers to voice objections “is a mature, common-sense approach reflecting the fact that certain ministers have long-held views.”
