A 10-person delegation traveled to San Salvador, El Salvador on November 30, to meet with Salvadoran government representatives to discuss the ongoing investigation into the murder of Teamster Representative Gilberto Soto on Nov. 5, in Usulut'n.
Congresswoman Linda S'nchez (D-CA) joined the delegation that met with the Salvadoran Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Governance, Minister of Labor, Director of the National Civilian Police (PNC) and the Ambassador of El Salvador to the US.
S'nchez was one of 72 members of Congress to sign the attached Nov. 23 letter to Secretary of State Colin Powell authored by Congressmen James P. McGovern (D-MA) and Raul Grijalva (D-AZ) asking him to ensure that sufficient US resources and personnel be made available to the Salvadoran government to aid in the investigation of Mr. Soto's murder.
The delegation, comprised of S'nchez and union officials, then traveled to Soto's hometown of Usulut'n to meet with his family. There, the delegation met with the mayor of Usulut'n and human rights representatives.
