UTC Overseas names Lloyd (Woo Sung) Bae Director of Sales and Operations - Korea Desk

Houston, TX - UTC Overseas announced the appointment of Lloyd (Woo Sung) Bae as Director of Sales and Operations for the firm’s Korea Desk.   He is based in the company’s Houston HQ offices.  The announcement was made by UTC V.P. for Project Development, Matt Loll. Mr. Bae has two and a half decades of experience in freight forwarding and logistics in his native Korea and the United States.  A graduate of Korea’s Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, he is fluent in Korean and English and moderately fluent in Chinese.

His initial career involved positions of increasing responsibility with Korean ocean shipping firms.  In 2008 he joined the Houston offices of a major freight forwarder as General Manager and then was named Manager and ultimately Director of the firm’s International Freight Forwarding Division in their California HQ.  Much of that work involved project cargo logistics services to/from Korean corporations serving customers in North America. “Lloyd turned to UTC Overseas on numerous occasions for assistance in project- related rate and service quotations,” Loll explained,  “and we were impressed with his work and his knowledge of Korean business.  Because many of the sectors he was working in meshed with our own expertise in fields like power generation and distribution, heavy equipment, and mining and manufacturing, we quickly recognized the value of him joining UTC, and we are very happy that he did.” “Mr. Bae’s experience in freight forwarding, shipping strategy and management of project cargoes, coupled with his multi-lingual fluency and knowledge of business practices in Korea and throughout Asia, is a definite asset for UTC,” adds Executive Vice President Marco Poisler.  “With our 55 offices in 27 countries, we know he will be a great resource for us and for our customers in Asia, North America and worldwide.”
