According to Walmart, Averitt received the award based on its overall dedication to customer service, operational excellence, and the ability to offer creative solutions to Walmart's complex supply chain.
'Averitt Express has set themselves apart from other carrier partners in the industry by going above and beyond to service our customers and exceeding our service expectations,' stated Ken Braunbach, Walmart's senior director of carrier relations, in a letter of commendation. '[Averitt's] ability'has won our utmost trust and confidence. We look forward to a long and rewarding partnership.'
Each year, Walmart recognizes the outstanding service of several carriers in their respective categories. Some of those categories include Innovative Package Carrier of the Year, Rising Star Carrier of the Year, Grocery Carrier of the Year, and Small Carrier of the Year.
This is the first time Averitt has received the award. Averitt was selected as a Rising Star recipient from a pool of numerous other carriers partnering with Walmart.
Phil Pierce, Averitt's vice president of sales and marketing, said winning this accolade is a great accomplishment for Averitt.
'The Averitt team is privileged to partner with Walmart, and we're honored to be named the 2008 Rising Star Carrier of the Year,' stated Pierce. 'This prestigious award is a testament to our commitment to providing Walmart with the best possible service, and we appreciate the recognition of our continuous efforts.'
