Selected from 33 finalists who competed this week before a panel of judges in Arlington, Virginia, Sheeds will serve as a captain with 19 other professional drivers. “We’re very proud of Micheal Sheeds and we congratulate him on his well-deserved selection to America’s Road Team,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Derek Leathers. “Werner benefits every day from his outstanding professionalism, safety and dedication, and Micheal is an excellent representative for the transportation industry.” Sheeds, from Bandera, Texas, has driven more than 3 million accident-free miles since joining Werner in 1990. The U.S. Marine Corps veteran has trained more than 200 student drivers since 1991 and was named a 2015 Citizen Driver Award winner by TravelCenters of America.
