New CMA-CGM Lines and China Shipping container service begins April 1

Beginning April 1, Maryland's Port of Baltimore will see a new container service with CMA-CGM and China Shipping that is expected to bring 30,000 containers annually into the Port's Seagirt Marine Terminal. Both CMA-CGM and China Shipping are ranked in the top ten of container shipping services worldwide, with CMA-CGM ranked third and China Shipping ranked sixth. The first ship to arrive in Baltimore under this new service will be the CMA-CGM Jefferson.

'The arrival of a new container line into Maryland's Port of Baltimore is a confirmation of both the growth of our port and our international reputation,' said Brooks Royster, Executive Director of the Maryland Port Administration. 'We are pleased that these two giants in the maritime shipping industry will be docking at our port on a weekly basis.'

The Jefferson is one of four ships making up the Liberty Bridge service. The Liberty Bridge will make nine port calls in 28 days. Two of the ships will be from the CMA-CGM Line and the other two from China Shipping.
