Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL), the global shipping and logistics provider, has expanded its Mexico operations with the acquisition of integrated logistics provider Carlogistics. WWL Vehicle Services Americas (WWL VSA) is now the largest provider of vehicle processing for automotive manufacturers in Mexico. The expansion adds two facilities and nearly 100 employees to WWL’s vast auto logistics network in Mexico. Processing centers in Cuautitlan (just North of Mexico City) and near Veracruz (the largest auto port in North America) will cater to the integrated logistics needs of car manufacturers in preparation for export and domestic consumption. Key services at the facilities include vehicle processing, body shop work and storage, as well as supply chain and distribution management (including rail and truck loading/unloading). “Expanding its scope of operations and continuing to invest in Mexico allows WWL Vehicle Services Americas to deliver top quality, reliable services to car manufacturers in an important high-demand, fast-growing market,” says John Felitto, President & CEO of WWL Vehicle Services Americas, Inc. WWL VSA’s network in Mexico now includes a total of nine vehicle processing centers based at both auto plants and standalone processing locations, and an ocean transportation service that connects auto manufacturers to the United States, Europe, Middle East and rest of the world. The network’s annual throughput in Mexico is 1.6 million cars and it maintains a workforce of approximately 1,100 employees.
