Secaucus, NJ - Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc., a leading global third-party logistics provider, has completed a LED light retrofit project that will reduce electricity usage and expense by more than 60 percent at one of its warehouses at its Carson, CA campus. The company recently replaced 966 outdated fixtures with energy-efficient LED lights at the 486,000-square-foot facility, the largest warehouse in its network.  The retrofit will reduce energy use on average by one million kilowatt-hours (kWh) per year. Yusen Logistics expects to reap a 60 percent savings in total annual lighting costs as well as a 65 percent decrease in power consumption as compared to last year. In addition to significant energy cost savings, the retrofit will also create a safer work environment by providing brighter and more uniform lighting throughout the warehouse. The project signifies Yusen Logistics’ ongoing commitment to using environmentally-friendly solutions to support its business.  “Not only does the new lighting system improve the work area for our team members, but it reduces our carbon footprint,” said Ryan Entis, Operations Support Analyst, Contract Logistics, Yusen Logistics. “The retrofit will eliminate 309 tons of carbon dioxide each year, which is the equivalent of removing 3,488 cars from the road.” Yusen Logistics partnered with U.S. Energy Recovery, a Phoenix-based provider of energy saving solutions, on the project.
