TASCO Berhad, a Yusen Logistics subsidiary in Malaysia, opened and commenced operations of a new warehouse in Tanjung Pelepas, a port in the south of Malaysia, on January 27. The 200,000-square-foot warehouse will strengthen Yusen Logistics’ presence in the region by providing logistics services for the electronic and electrical equipment industries, as well as general consumer goods. Located in the southwestern Malaysian state of Johor, Tanjung Pelepas has grown into a logistics hub for the ASEAN region, located 30 minutes by car from the state capital of Johor Bahru and one hour from Singapore across shore. Malaysia has attracted attention in recent years as a country that allows the storage of goods by non-residents, and the projected logistics demand led to the opening of the warehouse. The warehouse will offer a variety of services, including loading/unloading, inventory storage, processing for distribution and delivery management. In the Free Zone area of the Port of Tanjung Pelepas, the warehouse will provide services that take advantage of the unique features of the area, including non-resident goods storage and cross-border transportation to Singapore. In addition to utilizing the warehouse to support various logistic needs for both Japanese and non-Japanese companies, the warehouse will serve as a hub of the ASEAN region that provides one-stop integrated services that connects forwarding and customs clearance.
