East Coast Warehouse & Distribution Corp., headquartered in Elizabeth, has announced the opening of its expanded Non-Intrusive (NII) inspection facility located at 141 North Ave., enhancing the capabilities of its Comprehensive Examination Station (CES) as a reliable, one-stop resource for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, at the Ports of New York and New Jersey.

The 14-acre facility, operated through a division known as East Coast CES, will ensure that East Coast remains the CES market leader for the Ports of New York and New Jersey. The new location adjacent to the Port allows for the effective and expeditious handling of containers targeted by U.S. Customs and Border Protection for exams.

“We are committed to further cultivating our 18-year relationship with the U.S. government as a CES, as well as with the ocean carriers and custom house brokers, with the opening of this well-engineered and highly-efficient facility,” said James G Overley, CEO, East Coast CES. “The new facility coupled with our online technology and customer call center will provide our customers with state-of-the-art facilities and technology to assist in minimizing cost and improving service.”

With the largest port on the East Coast, increasing resources to improve security in Elizabeth is one of our top priorities, said Mayor J. Christian Bollwage. “This expanded facility enhances employment opportunities and effective services while providing additional quality control and protection for our city,” the mayor said.

In addition to the NII exams performed at this new yard, East Coast CES continues to provide Contraband Enforcement (CET), Agriculture (AQI) and Manifest (MET/Trade) exams for imports through the port, and has also made significant enhancements for CBP at its warehouse facility.
