The successful delivery of heavy-lift project cargo in the United States and Malaysia highlighted the expertise of the Project Professionals Group around the world that ensured cost-effective solutions to logistical challenges, according to the organization’s General-Manger Kevin Stephens.

Mr. Stephens said that the complex demands of international project cargo required a demonstrated record of success before clients were prepared to entrust transportation of plant and equipment that represented a substantial investment and critical component of their business operations.

‘PPG membership is by invitation only and includes referral and endorsement by current members who have a track-record of achievement. This ensures that our clients can be confident that we have the specialist skills and handling expertise to transport safely bulky, overdimensional cargo,’ Mr. Stephens said.

Mr. Stephens cited some recent examples of successful project cargo shipments by PPG members.

He said TransGroup Worldwide Logistics was responsible for the safe transportation of a 127 tons flue-gas scrubber tower that was 88 feet long and 43 feet high to Joliet, Illinois. TransGroup represents the PPG in and around Houston, Seattle, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Mr. Stephens said PPG member Megalift, based in Malaysia, had used its specialist expertise to transport a CO2 Absorber weighing 361.6 tons and a CO2 Regenerator weighing 291 tons. The company was also responsible for transporting three reactors weighing 479, 318, and 188.3 tons. In a separate project, Megalift transported three generator units weighing 318 tons each, two gas turbines weighing 310 tons each and Steam Turbine weighing 140 tons.

PPG has its headquarters in Brisbane, Australia.
