Thomas Miller P&I, Ltd. has announced three senior management appointments to support the UK P&I Club in Greece and in its other European activities.

Rod Lingard, an Area Director in London, has become Area Director in the Thomas Miller (Hellas) office in Piraeus. He succeeds Philip Clacy, who returns to Thomas Miller's head office as Regional Director for the London-based claims handling groups.

Martyn Haines returns to London after a three-year secondment in Thomas Miller's New Jersey office to take over Rod Lingard's responsibilities for syndicates dealing with members in France, Italy, Monaco, Spain, Portugal, Croatia, North Africa and Greek members based in London.

Rod Lingard gained extensive experience as a ship's officer and cargo superintendent before joining the Sunderland Steamship Protecting & Indemnity Association as a claims executive in 1987. Since 1991, he has worked for Thomas Miller P&I as a claims executive, syndicate and area manager and IT project manager. For the past ten years, he has been a senior claims director, dealing with high value claims. A qualified master, he has degrees in nautical studies and law and is a master of business administration.

Philip Clacy joined Thomas Miller as a claims handler. He looked after London-based syndicates as an Area Director before moving to Piraeus in 2002 to manage the Thomas Miller Hellas office. He has a degree in nautical studies and is also a master of business administration.

Martyn Haines, a master mariner and qualified ship broker, spent 13 years at sea on oil tankers, bulk carriers, reefers and heavy lift ships, and a further ten years in commercial operations and fleet management. He joined Thomas Miller in 1996. In 2002, Martyn was appointed an Area Director, responsible for servicing members in Russia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. He has just returned from a three-year secondment in Thomas Miller's New Jersey office as a senior claims director, with particular responsibility for South America.
