United Arab Shipping Company (UASC) received its eighth and last A7 ship, at a ceremony held at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard in Ulsan (South Korea).

The latest A7 Al Rawdah will fly the Qatari flag and is being deployed on the Asia-Middle East-Europe container route. Captain Ahmed Yousef Al Mas, Asst. Chairman for Seaports (Customs & Ports General authority) Qatar, named the ship Al Rawdah and officially took delivery of the vessel.

Al Rawdah means green and fertile land symbolizing life and prosperity. It is also the name given to a new area near the International Airport of Doha - the capital city of Qatar.

With the delivery of Al Rawdah, UASC's order for a fleet of eight A7 ships is thus completed.

Each of these ships has a capacity to load in excess of 6,919 TEU and can operate at a service speed of 25.5 knots per hour, while incorporating the latest technologies, and environmental compliance.

M/V Al Rawdah will further augment the capacity of the company's fleet in meeting the increasing demand for cost-effective and efficient shipping regionally and internationally.

Mr. J'rn Hinge, Chief Operating Officer of UASC, attended the delivery ceremony, and on behalf of UASC, complimented Hyundai, Schiffko and UASC teams for an excellent job in building and delivering all eight A7 ships well ahead of the contracted delivery time.
