ARTEMUS: Shipping 101

The interactive course will cover the entire international shipping and transportation process and includes a hands-on shipping excursion in a live environment with a terminal tour. ARTEMUS works with major shipping companies to develop this curriculum that ensures the course provides the most comprehensive training to its attendees. Whether the employee is at entry level, transferred from a different position or simply looking to refresh his or her skill set, this course is designed to provide training that will add value and enhance performance on the job.  The course will broaden attendees' knowledge of the industry by delving into such topics as the History and Evolution of the Containerized Shipping Industry, the shipping cycle, major trade lanes, customer service/booking/rate filing/service contract negotiation, equipment control, intermodal transportation and equipment, export/import documentation and terminal/marine operations.  For continuing education students, participants will be eligible to receive 3.2 CEU from Old Dominion University post completion of the program.  The course also carries 20 CCS/CES Credits through the National Customs House Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association.
