he Port of Halifax is the closest full-service, deep water container port to Northern Europe and is two days closer to Europe than any other North American container port on the East Coast. In 2013, our containerized cargo trade with Europe increased to 41% of total throughput. With the recent development of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement, Canada stands to gain preferential market access to more than 500 million consumers in the European Union.
