Executive Director Brandon Fried reappointed to TSA Aviation Security Advisory Committee to provide expertise on indirect air carrier interests

Washington, DC – The Airforwarders Association announced today that its Executive Director, Brandon Fried, has been reappointed to the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) Aviation Security Advisory Committee. This is the third time Brandon has been appointed to the committee, and he will serve for a two-year term.

The TSA Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) was established in 1989 to advise the TSA administrator on aviation security matters, including the development, refinement, and implementation of policies, programs, rule making, and security directives pertaining to aviation security. The 31-member committee includes thought leaders and industry experts affected by aviation security requirements.

Brandon was reappointed to ASAC to represent the viewpoint of Indirect Air Carriers. Previously, his participation on the committee has proven to be an invaluable asset for membership by facilitating a platform to communicate critical feedback to TSA about air cargo security programs. His participation on the committee has also created the opportunity to lead the effort towards establishing programs and protocols that enhance security and efficiency for all aviation constituents.

“The important issues addressed by this committee and TSA could impact 40 percent of international trade by value, which has the potential to greatly impact the business and interests of our membership and the trade on which our economy so heavily relies. As an advocate for our industry, I have the opportunity to stimulate conversation and action regarding pressing concerns such as airport congestion, tactics and technologies for cargo security, and safe and effective off-airport cargo screening. I am proud to give a voice to our community in these discussions and look forward to serving as a member of this committee for another term.”
