APM Terminals Barcelona container terminal has launched a campaign to work with the Hospital del Mar in the context of the coronavirus crisis. The terminal will deliver 884 kilos of fruit to the hospital as a show of gratitude for the steps taken over these last few weeks to deal with COVID19. The deliveries will take place on various days between 16 and 28 April and correspond to the monthly fruit budget that the company allocates to its employees.

In the words of the managers of APM Terminals Barcelona “Solidarity is the order of the day in these difficult times for everyone, with respect for the victims and admiration for those helping us through their daily work. This small gesture of solidarity, giving away the fruit that the staff of our terminal would be eating during the month of April, is a way to thank the healthcare workers who are struggling so much over these weeks”.

Internally, following instructions issued by the Health Ministry, APM Terminals Barcelona maintains a safety protocol to mitigate the possible impact of COVID-19 on the company and the industry in which it operates. The company has implemented all kinds of measures to guarantee the safety of its employees.

In the words of the terminal managers: “At APM Terminals Barcelona we are constantly monitoring this unfolding situation and working to perform our activities with the least possible impact on our customers, suppliers and internal staff”.

APM Terminals Barcelona has also developed guidelines for the interaction of company staff with the rest of the people in the port community. “The logistics sector is showing an enormous capacity to minimize the effects of the Covid-19 crisis, guaranteeing supplies for industries and consumption. Despite the safety measures implemented and the restrictions imposed by the authorities to stop the virus from spreading, APM Terminals Barcelona continues to operate with relative normality”.
