A Boeing 737 jet operated by Air Niugini landed in the ocean after overshooting a runway in Micronesia, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. Everyone on board was rescued, the newspaper said.

Air Niugini Flight 73 missed the landing at Chuuk Airport, where it was due to stop on its way from Pohnpei in the western Pacific to Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea, the newspaper said.

The plane landed about 150 meters from shore, according to the report. The newspaper published pictures from social media that showed the aircraft afloat on calm water, surrounded by dozens of small boats and at least two life rafts.

All 36 passengers and 11 crew were rescued, the Sydney Morning Herald said. Air Niugini is Papua New Guinea’s national carrier.
