Brad Cohen, Jacob Tzfanya, Jon Kamali Join CBRE's Office In NY's Outer Boroughs

Los Angeles - CBRE has hired Brad Cohen, Jacob Tzfanya and Jon Kamali, all formerly of Eastern Consolidated, to further enhance and expand its focus on leasing and sales of Industrial & Logistics and Retail real estate in New York’s outer boroughs.

“Brad, Jacob and Jon bring more than 25 years of local market expertise to CBRE, further expanding the strategic advisory work we provide to our clients operating in the rapidly changing outer borough markets,” said Jeff Hipschman, Practice Leader for the Northeast Industrial & Logistics Division. “As the interdependency between the industrial and retail sectors continues to escalate, this team will provide our clients with expanded market expertise to fully leverage the opportunities created by shifting ownership and occupancy trends.”

The arrivals of Messrs. Cohen, Tzfanya and Kamali underscores the strength of CBRE’s Industrial & Logistics practice in the Northeastern U.S. in general and in New York’s outer boroughs in particular. CBRE recently appointed Mr. Hipschman, its New Jersey market leader, to the additional role of leading CBRE’s Industrial & Logistics business in the Northeast. Also this month, CBRE promoted New Jersey professional Thomas Monahan, who ranked as CBRE’s top Industrial & Logistics producer in the Americas last year, to Vice Chairman.

“New York’s outer boroughs have become an even more strategic Industrial & Logistics market amid the rise of e-commerce, given the boroughs’ location within the largest U.S. metropolitan area and their close proximity to the busy Port of NY/NJ,” said Adam Mullen, CBRE’s Americas Leader of Industrial & Logistics. “Welcoming experienced hands Brad, Jacob and Jon solidifies CBRE’s expertise in this critical market and greatly benefits our clients as they enhance their distribution in this market and beyond.”

Veteran local leasing experts, Mr. Cohen and Mr. Tzfanya join CBRE as Senior Vice Presidents, along with Mr. Kamali, a technology expert who will serve as a Senior Associate. The CBRE team will continue to focus on owner and occupier advisory in the outer boroughs, synchronizing with the company’s local leasing professionals and its extensive Industrial & Logistics practice across the Northeast.

Messrs. Cohen, Tzfanya and Kamali bring extensive occupier and owner experience to CBRE, including their work on recent projects for Equity Residential, Terreno Realty and Realterm Logistics. The team represented the latter on its purchase of Modell’s 300,000-square-foot warehouse in the Morris Park section of the Bronx.

For Terreno Realty, the team negotiated its acquisition of Bulova’s 83,000-square-foot headquarters in Woodside, Queens, rebranding it as the BQE Logistics Center. Mr. Cohen, Mr. Tzfanya and Mr. Kamali now are handling leasing of the building’s 66,300 square feet of warehouse space and its 16,700 square feet of office space. The team has additionally worked with a number of national and local occupiers, including Capital One Bank, CityMD, Crunch Fitness and Popular Bank. Mr. Cohen and Mr. Kamali also serve as the exclusive tenant representation for iPic Entertainment’s expansion in the New York region.

Ellen Rudin, Practice Leader for the Northeast Retail Division, noted, “Incorporating this team’s local retail and entertainment expertise will provide CBRE’s clients with a highly relevant market perspective related to the expanding entertainment sector.”
