Daniel F. Packer was appointed to the Port of New Orleans Board of Commissioners in January 2010 by then Governor Bobby Jindal. In 2013, the Board of Commissioners elected Packer as its Chairman to succeed Joseph F. Toomy, whose term expired.

“I would like to take a moment to honor the life and extraordinary legacy of former Port NOLA Chairman Daniel Packer,” said current Port NOLA Board Chairman Joseph Toomy. “I had the pleasure to serve on the board with Dan. He was not only an esteemed chairman but also brought a wealth of knowledge in business management and executive leadership. He leaves a lasting impression on Louisiana, as he was always a strong voice and champion for New Orleans, economic development and the port community.”

“Daniel Packer played an integral role in leading the port through the groundbreaking of several critical infrastructure projects as well as ensuring the Port’s growth as a global gateway,” said Port NOLA President and CEO Brandy D. Christian. “We are forever grateful for his dedicated service to his state and city, and we extend our deepest condolences to Daniel’s family and friends.”
